We offer an artist retreat to artists, writers, performers, and musicians at Obelisk Farm, an industrial hemp farm nestled in Obeliskas village, Latvia. Retreats are designed to offer artists of every discipline space and time to work on specific projects; whether a series of paintings, a composition, book, set of sculptures, or album.
Location: The farm is located in Latgale region and offers an unparalleled rural living experience. There are forest within walking distance; an on-site pond; vegetable, fruit, and herb gardens; open-air sheds for pottery and painting; and a two-story barn functioning as gallery and studio space (seasonal use only).
Accomodation: A private room, 24/7 access to a fully stocked communal kitchen, linens and towels, WiFi, parking, and round-the-clock access to the barns are all included in a low stipend required of all residents. The environment is simple and communal. Artists are expected to do their share in maintaining the condition of Obelisk Farm as well as its peaceful environment.
Resources available: Video projector, screen, video camera, 1 laptop computer (for communal use), a piano for musicians, and some basic paint supplies. You will have access to basic office facilities including printer and scanner; but artists are expected to provide the majority of materials and equipment they would need for the production of their work.
Duration: Retreats are for two weeks, three weeks, one
month, or two-month periods.
Eligibility & Criteria: Applicants must be at least
18 years old – there is no upper age limit for the program. The standards for
admission are talent, desire to live at Obelisk Farm and willingness to have a
go on the hemp movement.
